Bad Photography Sunday: SSD

Above is the Scranton School District administration building on North Washington Avenue.  It's just across the street from the Scranton Cultural center, which occupied this space yesterday.

A Google search didn't provide much information.  Clearly, it's an old school and a spectacular one at that.  Someone recently had the common sense to remove a thick cover from ivy, and now you can really see the building's beauty.

There was a rumor a few years ago that the school district was interested in selling the building to Lackawanna College.  You know, that's not a bad idea.  The meeting room here is way too small.  You could rotate meetings among city schools.  There's plenty of room.  Also, you don't need as much work space as you once dead.  Those filing cabinets filled with paper can easily be stored in one small computer.

At least, the Scranton School District knows it has a beauty on its hands, and it sunk some money into the appearance.

This building, teamed with the Cultural Center, Lackawanna College, and the Albright library make up one of the city's nicest blocks.
