It's no secret that I like trains. When I learned there was a derailment just a few mines away from where I live, I had to take a look.
I stayed away until well after the initial emergency had passed. Only four cars jumped the tracks. Sand and lumber. Nothing hazardous.
Watching the recovery crews work is a thing of beauty. They maneuver massive cranes and heavy rail cars like they're toys. It's the equivalent of threading a needle and they do it with such speed and ease. I've seen it done before, and it never fails to fascinate.
And, a couple days after the accident, the area will look line nothing bad happened there.
