Follow the money. I'm sure the powers that be in South Williamsport were told they could charge more for an expanded World Series. The ratings are good, and I'm sure ESPN will pony up additional cash.
More is not necessarily better. 10 days is a long way to be away from home for little kids. Several games in a short amount of time is grueling and expensive. We are expecting a lot from ten and eleven year olds. This has become way too serious.
Little League is big business.
